How to make essential oils at home in 6 easy steps

Essential oils are a concentrated liquid that contains the aroma of a specific plant. It’s called essential because contains the essence or fragrance of the plant from which it was extracted. And who doesn’t like essential oils right?

The great deal about essential oils is they are not use or meant to be use just as a nice fragrance, they have lots of benefits for our health for example:

  • They can be use on the skin for a relaxing massage or even to help reduce pain, swelling, bruises and muscular contractures. Eucalyptus and mint are the most common.
  • They can be use in the bathtub for a relaxing bath.
  • They can be use on the temples of your head to help reduce headaches.
  • They can be use as a mosquito repellent.
  • Help reduce anxiety.
  • They can be use on cosmetics like body butters, limp balms, body,or lip scrubs.
  • Some can be use in foods to help digestion.

There are plenty of uses of essential oils, and lots of different oils too but the one issue about then is that they can be expensive or hard to find. But.

Did you know you can make them at home?

It’s actually really easy and most of the things you need you already have them at home:

  1. Bottle water
  2. A cooking pot
  3. Glass jar with a lid
  4. Dark glass container
  5. Olive oil (any other odourless oil)
  6. The plant from which you will extract the oil

Step1: if you are making the essential oil from a flower like a rose take all the petals of the flower. Important: all the plants that you use most be fresh.

Step2: in a cooking pot put some water in, and put it on the stove in a medium temperature until it boils.

Step 3: while the water boils, in a glass jar fill it with the oils of your choice (olive oil, avocado oil, grape seed oil etc.) and put in the petals or the leaves of the plant, don’t forget to brake them in small pieces, this will help them loose their essence.  And close the jar.

Step 4: once your water is boiling turn of the flame, and put the jar inside the cooking pot, and leave it there until the water gets completely cold. Make sure the water covers the jar completely.

Step5: now that your water is cold take the jar out and put it near a sunny window, leave it there for a couple of days. This will help the plant to loosen even more its essence and the oil will have a stronger smell. I leave mine on a sunny window for 7 days.

Step 6: now that you oil is ready with the help of a strainer pure out the oil in to a dark glass container, the strainer will prevent the plant to move to the container so you can have a clean oil.

And your oil is ready!! ……. store your jar in a dark place.

I have already made 2 essential oils: rose oil and Jamaica oil, using this method, and worked perfectly both times.
One thing you must have in mind when you do them is that the result product its always going to be less than the amount of product you use to make them.

Making a essential oil as you can see it’s so easy and totally worth it...

If you try them at home don’t forget to share it with me on the comments below and

Amazing hack: Repair damage hair with papaya

Read in English      Leer en Español

It’s your hair damage, dry and dull?

On today’s post, I’m going to share with you how to repair your damage hair at home with a natural hair mask that only requires 3 ingredients.

Every day we damage our hair with the excessing use of chemicals like bleaching the hair, dying it, sprays, gels; the use of heat from the flat iron, curler, hair dryer etc. This also causes the scalp to stop producing oil that helps hydrate the hair. Thus, we end up with dry hair, split ends, and tangled hair.

Luckily for us there are great hair masks that help repair all the damage so we can have a silky shiny and healthy hair, and we only need 3 ingredients:

1 cup of papaya
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of honey

Cut the papaya in small pieces, don’t forget to peel of the skin and remove the seeds. Put the papaya on a blender and ad the coconut oil and the honey. Blend it well until all the papaya its smashed and has a creamy consistency. Make sure there are not big pieces of papaya, you don’t want a huge piece of papaya in your hair.

Once the mixture is ready place it in a bowl, wet your hair and apply the mixture starting in the middle of your hair all the way down to the ends, try to apply most of the mixture on the ends since they tend to be the more damage ones. If you have bleached hair apply the mixture in all the hair starting at the root. Leave it for 30 minutes and wash it off. Wash your hair as your normaly do it.

You will see the results from the first application, your hair will be soft and silky and wont tangled as much as it used to. Apply this mask once a week if your hair is too damage or once a month if you only want to prevent the damage specially if you bleach or dye your hair.

Another hair mask that it’s great for hydrating dry hair is an avocado mask.

If you try this amazing hair mask, please share your experience with me at the comment section below and also tell me what’s your favourite hair mask.

Easy way to make Rose Water at home

Read in English      Leer en Español

Hello everyone, hope you all are having a great time. Today I have the perfect post for all of us who love roses, and also a great way to reuse the beautiful roses we have at home before they die, sadly they always do and never really last long enough…..

Rose water is a very popular toner specially in the beauty industry, because, it has so many benefits for the skin, it can be used to treat different issues like:

  • Keeps the ph. balance
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antibacterial
  • Has antioxidant properties
  • Helps to clean the skin

Because its popularity it can be found almost everywhere and under so many different brand names, but it can also get a little expensive. But

Did you know you can make it at home?

Searching on the Ethernet I found different methods to do it, so today I’m sharing with you the one method I found not only easy but also the one actually worked.

What you need:

  • Roses ( depends on how much water you want to do I used about 2 roses)
  • Bottled Water
  • A cooking pot
  • A glass container
  • A container with a lid (can be a spray bottle or any bottle you have)

The first thing you need to do is to take off all the petals of the rose, the roses must be fresh, if they are already withered they won’t work. While you take all the petals off, in a cooking pot put some water in, and put it on the stove in a medium temperature until it boils.

Now that you have all your petals start braking them in small pieces, this will help them loose their essence and put them all in a glass container.

Once your water is ready put the hot water on the glass container covering all the petals. You can use a wooden spoon or a wooden stick to mix it a little, to make sure all the petals are covered in water. Leave it there until the water its completely cold.

With a strainer, transfer the water to the bottle where you will keep it. The strainer will prevent the petals to move to the bottle so you can have a clean water.

I don’t recommend you keep the petals on the water, after a couple of days the petals will start to decompose forming a sticky substance and you won’t be able to use the water anymore.

You are done!

Remember to keep it in a place away from the sun.

I love using rose water as a facial toner in the mornings, it helps a lot with my acne problems and the dark spots I have.

Also, helps to relieve any irritations on the skin due to products (chemicals) or the sun

What do you guys think? If you do it at home please don’t forget to share it with me on the comments below, and, what do you use rose water for?
